Welcome to Camp Stephens!
For over 130 years, YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg's Camp Stephens has been offering unforgettable overnight and wilderness canoe experiences to children, youth and groups on its island site in the heart of Lake of the Woods, out of Kenora, Ontario.
Camp Stephens is owned and operated by YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg - a charitable organization that ignites the potential in people, helping them grow, lead and give back to their communities.
Why Choose Camp Stephens?
Camp Stephens welcomes all youth aged 8-17 years. We firmly believe in upholding every person’s dignity and strive to create a respectful and inclusive culture for all to feel safe and to play, learn, and enjoy their camping experience. Camp Stephens provides each camper with the opportunity to be active, to learn and to grow in a safe, healthy and natural environment. Through a range of skills, outdoor activities and interactions with others, campers are encouraged to challenge themselves while building self-confidence, having fun, and creating lasting friendships. In the spirit of the camp’s strong tradition, we are committed to challenging individuals to be the best that they can ever be.
Camp Subsidy Programs
Every child should have the opportunity to benefit from a camp experience regardless of their financial situation. Camp Stephens and the Sunshine Fund both offer subsidy programs and extended payment plans to assist those families who otherwise would not be able to participate.
Send a Kid to Camp
By donating to Camp Stephens' Send a Kid to Camp campaign, you are gifting a summer camp experience to a child whose current financial situation limits their ability to participate in. Camp provides a wealth of life experiences kids may never be exposed to in any other single setting. It allows children to grow personally and socially through unique activities and group living as well as nurtures their independence, self-confidence, leadership abilities and interpersonal relationships.
Like many non-profits, our program fees are subsidized and do not fully support annual operating costs. We rely on contributions to help bridge the gap, make camp more affordable, strengthen programs and enhance facilities.
