The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg strives to serve all members of the community – we want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy our facilities and take part in the programs and services which are included in our membership. As a charity, we are committed to helping ensure that people are not turned away because they can’t afford the full membership fee.
Our Member Access Program is available to people whose current financial situation limits their ability to participate in the Y’s programs. We are pleased to provide assistance to people who are unable to pay the full fee with convenient 3-month or 12-month membership terms.
About Eligibility
Our Member Access Program is assessed on family size and household income, regardless of membership type. You can enroll at any time – no appointment is necessary (exceptions may apply). Simply bring to your local branch:
- a copy of your Social Assistance Budget letter OR a copy of your most recent Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment identifying annual net income of all economic family members (available on the Canada Revenue Agency website or by calling 1-800-959-8281).
- plus your Canada Child Benefit amount information (for children under 18 years old)
Using Your New Membership
Upon approval, your membership is activated immediately. We encourage you to use your membership regularly! As a member of the YMCA‐YWCA, you and your family will have access to all YMCA‐YWCA facilities in Winnipeg and we will work with you to meet your needs and help you reach your goals.
If you have any questions, a member of the Sales and Experience team at your local branch would be happy to help!
